Welcome to A Lovenote.
A weekly digest where I say hello and share. You’ll find things you can cook this week + some things you didn’t ask for but might enjoy. I’m so glad you are here!
A Birthday and An Anniversary
It was Fras’ birthday and nothing brings me more joy than to celebrate him!! That man is a GEM! As a partner, a friend, a dad and a human. He is a huge personality, the life of any party and the man with the highest standards, but most people don’t realize how soft and sensitive he is. We celebrated by surrounding him with family in Point au Baril, with as much chocolate as we could serve him and a little family dance party.
Also, this time of year marks the 1 year anniversary I decided take this blog seriously. I’ve been posting recipes on Instagram since around 2021, but it wasn’t until last summer, about this time, that I decided ‘why not me?’. Why not throw my hat into this over crowded food space and create a little home for people who need mostly easy, accessible, and healthy meal inspiration.
Let’s dive in shall we….
WHAT I DID THIS WEEK
I compiled a few things that I actually love that also happened to be on sale (for Prime Day) into their own little place on my Amazon Storefront. I called it My Amazon Prime Day Cheatsheet. I get conflicted about sharing Amazon products just for the sake of buying on sale. But I reasoned with myself that if you were considering something and it was then on sale, then why not share my recommendations? I hope you were able to find something great if you needed it. PS: Have you bought an airfryer yet?!?
I wrote a blog post all about gift ideas if you’ve been invited to a friend’s cottage. We always want to be invited back and these are some surefire ways to guarantee that!
I tried my hat a recreating the infamous Crumbl cookies and they are the bomb.com. I feel that this might need to be a new monthly series! What do you think??
I made this EPIC looking cake for Fraser’s birthday that totally flopped (I might have had 1 too many glasses of chardonnay at a very critical moment of assembly) but my mother-in-law rescued the situation with her Peanut Butter Icing on an Angel Food Cake and I’m sharing this recipe below…

What caught my eye this week
BOUGHT this WEEK Here is what I gave Fras for his bday. This polo, these swim trunks, this handsome mauve top, this classic linen t-shirt. I love the colours and the French flair!
During the prime day sales I picked up these new tongs (I badly needed them!). The quality is great and will save my hands from picking things out of the airfryer. This market dress in white, I also own olive green, and these sandals.
I bought my son this book - it’s the 9th in a series and if you have a tween/teen boy, he is addicted to the story line! Also, this is a great little care package if you have a kid at sleep-away camp. Also, these would be fun for a cabin of girls and would be easy to mail.
Also, this little window washer is insanely effective. You still need to use a paper towel in the corners, but it makes short (and satisfying) work of the windows!
READING 11 Mostly free things that you can do that will bring joy. I LOVE this so much!!
RIP Shannon Doherty. She was only 53. (sniff)
I stumbled down this rabbit hole: How to auramaxx yourself. The yogi in me loves this….how are you increasing your aura today?
South of France Packing List. This is timely. Fras and I are heading to France the 1st week of August! Yippeee
EATING
PEACHES!! I’m starting the 2nd annual ‘What to cook with allll them peaches’ series on Instagram! Definitely follow along with that for inspiration.
Don’t forget that if you’re heading to a cottage anytime soon, pick up my done-for-you cottage meal plan, complete with grocery list, that will alleviate any decision fatigue when it comes to planning meals while you’re on holiday.
FINALLY! I do this EVERY time I visit a new go country! Didn’t even realize this was a trend! Grocery Store Tourism
SCROLLING this English teacher turned Tiktokker. I love her comedic take on living with her ‘interior designer’. And that sniff at the end of her videos is priceless!

Let’s do yoga!
After a bit of a shoulder injury, I am slowly getting back to my yoga practice. Don’t forget that I have a library of classes available on my website for you to access anytime this summer. Before I started cooking on the internet, I was/am a yoga teacher!
Make sure to take time during these busy summer days to reconnect with yourself and feel your feels.

These easy protein peanut butter and jam cups are the perfect midday treat. Rich and creamy peanut butter center, with a dollop of sweet jam hidden inside, they taste so good you won't even be able to tell these are packed with protein!
