Cinnamon Chip Scones

Creating Memories and Embracing English Tradition in the Kitchen

There's something truly magical about spending quality time in the kitchen, especially when it involves passing down cherished traditions. This weekend, I had the joy of embarking on a delightful baking adventure with my little nieces, and, with one of them being British, we decided to dive into the heart of English tradition by making scones.

Why scones? Because sometimes, life calls for a touch of sweetness. The simplicity of scones reflects the beauty of English tea traditions and the joy found in the little moments. We snapped pictures and perfected our technique and the results were DELICIOUS!

With messy hands and a little chocolate on our faces, we bring you our recipe! I hope you find time to create in your kitchen this holiday season!

Cinnamon Chip Scones

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

  • 3/4 cup salted butter

  • 1/2 cup whole milk

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 cup cinnamon chips

Directions:

  1. In a medium sized mixing bowl whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  2. Grate butter. Use your hands to coat the butter in flour and break it into pieces.

  3. In a small bowl whisk milk and egg. Add to the flour mixture and stir using a spatula until combined. Add cinnamon and chocolate chips. Stir.

  4. Dump dough onto a flour surface and press into a disk. Cut into eight wedges. Chill for 15 minutes. Preheat your oven to 400F.

  5. Brush with an egg wash (just an egg and a tablespoon of water). Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden.

  6. Dunk in glaze.

    Glaze recipe:
2 cups powdered sugar, 1/4 cup milk, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, 2 teaspoons vanilla, pinch of salt, mix well.

Note: If you want to freeze them for later, stop at Step 4!
