Welcome to A Lovenote.
A weekly digest where I say hello and share. You’ll find things you can cook this week + some things you didn’t ask for but might enjoy. I’m so glad you are here!
Hello my Loves and Happy August! I can’t believe we are here already - the summer has felt both long and so very short. Can you relate?
This week, was a total blur! It’s been so very busy around these parts! We dropped Sadie and Sully off at overnight camp last weekend. Tiggy was thrilled to be the only child for a stretch!
On Thursday, Fraser and I had the honor of co-hosting the Campfire Circle Gala, an inspiring evening dedicated to raising funds for children with cancer, allowing them to experience the joy of summer camp despite their illness. 🌟 Held at the camp, under the stars, the event was truly magical. Campers and their families shared heart-wrenching yet uplifting stories about what the camp experience meant to them, especially when most of their time is spent at SickKids Hospital. We are thrilled to announce that we raised over $700,000! 🎉 This incredible amount will enable even more children to come to camp and find healing through happiness. It was a privilege to be part of such a wonderful organization. ❤️
Today, you’ll find me at the Foot’s Bay Regatta, our cherished annual tradition. 🚣♀️ This year, I'm more nervous than ever. I've felt a significant loss of muscle mass, and I know both Sully and Tiggy are eager to compete in all the events. Recently, I've been immersing myself in fascinating podcasts about menopause and learning so much. I've been hiking with my weighted vest and incorporating weight training, but I still feel weaker than ever. Please wish me luck! 💪🍀
Let’s dive into today’s newsletter…..
My hope is that when you receive this newsletter, you have your feet in some sand or grass or maybe even in a body of water and are enjoying your long weekend with loved ones.
What caught my eye this week
WATCHING. The Paris Summer Olympics Games. What has been your favourite so far? Tiggy and I have been watching a ton of the equestrian events. The backdrop of Versailles was majestic! I loved watching Summer MacIntosh, obviously. And Simone Biles. My gawd Simone Biles. Fraser’s favourite has been the cycling. And what about you?
LISTENING Still fuelling my obsession with menopause and ageing optimally. Starting with this episode of Diary of a CEO that my mom recommended. It shares similar findings to this podcast I shared a few weeks ago. The data around muscle and health after 40 is staggering. This week, I continued on with this podcast more focussed around nutrition and lifestyle habits. I will share what is working for me. I’m finding that eating 1g of protein per pound of body weight has been a welcome challenge. I also take a scoop of creatine along with my collagen. I’ll continue to share what I’m learning. And stay tuned for high protein everything!
SHOPPING How cute are these sneakers? Like a preppy cross between a saddle shoe and a sneaker.
SCROLLING I’m going to need your thoughts on sleep divorce.
Also, my girl, Brene Brown on 5 Life Changing Lessons about courage, vulnerability and imperfection. I work on this daily and am immensely grateful for the work Brene Brown continues to do!
TRAVEL Fras and I are off to the south of France tomorrow! Whooohoo! If you are thinking to get away, here are some spots to consider for a late summer trip. I shared this last week, in case you missed it: 11 Europe Trips that everyone should add to their bucket list. Stay tuned for gorgeous travel spam in my stories!! And also, what to pack for the South of France.
EATING All I want to eat right now is some combination of peaches, tomatoes and berries. In addition to my peach obsession (it will be going strong for a few more weeks!), I saw this reel for tomato risotto and now I must make it. As I type this newsletter, I am currently turning some day-old sourdough into croutons to serve with this panzanella salad.
Don’t forget that if you’re heading to a cottage anytime soon, pick up my done-for-you cottage meal plan, complete with grocery list, that will alleviate any decision fatigue when it comes to planning meals while you’re on holiday.

This week’s meal plan
Let’s do yoga!
After a bit of a shoulder injury, I am slowly getting back to my yoga practice. Don’t forget that I have a library of classes available on my website for you to access anytime this summer. Before I started cooking on the internet, I was/am a yoga teacher!
Make sure to take time during these busy summer days to reconnect with yourself and feel your feels.
Thank you for being here!

These easy protein peanut butter and jam cups are the perfect midday treat. Rich and creamy peanut butter center, with a dollop of sweet jam hidden inside, they taste so good you won't even be able to tell these are packed with protein!
