4 Layer Taco Dip

delicious 4-layer taco dip is so easy to make at home and full of flavour

In the name of a fridge clean out, but really, just avoiding the work involved in moving, I made this delicious 4 Layer Taco Dip and I couldn’t believe how easy it was!

With the heel of a block of cream cheese, the remainder of a tub of sour cream and some defrosted ground beef, this Taco dip took about 10 minutes to make and worth every single moment!

What you need to make this a 4 Layer Taco Dip

Sour cream - you can also sub in plain greek yogurt

Cream Cheese - if you don’t have this on hand, just omit it! It will still turn out delicious!

Ground Beef - if you want to make this dip vegetarian, you could substitute black beans. I haven’t tried it that way, but I can’t see why it wouldn’t work!

Taco Seasoning - Use a store bought taco seasoning package or it’s very easy to make your own with a few spices you probably have on hand!

Onion - again, optional but I think it adds great flavour to the overall dip.

Salsa - use your favourite store-bought brand or homemade salsa works in this dip too!

Cheese - Any combination of mozzarella or cheddar is perfect here.

Tortilla chips for serving!

4-Layer Taco Dip

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz cream cheese

  • 1/2 cup sour cream

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 2 tbsp taco seasoning

  • 1/2 onion, diced

  • 1/2 jar salsa (I love the @neilbrothers Sweet Heat)

  • 2 cups shredded cheese

  • pickled jalapeños (optional)

  • Tortilla chips for serving!

Directions:

  1. Start by browning your ground beef in a skillet over medium high heat. After it begins to brown ~3 mins, add in the diced onion and the taco seasoning. Stir to combine. When the meat is no longer pink, remove from the heat and set aside.

  2. Using your food processor, whip the cream cheese and add in the sour cream until combined.

  3. Grab your serving platter. Start by spreading a layer of the sour cream mixture and smooth it out with the back of a spoon.

  4. Top this layer with your favourite jarred salsa and spread it out with the back of your spoon.

  5. Now add the ground beef in a layer and top this with your grated cheese.

  6. Garnish with the pickled jalapeños and grab your tortilla chips!
