Holiday Popcorn Balls

A Christmas tradition!

I made these adorable popcorn balls for our school’s holiday bake sale recently and they were such a hit! I wanted to share them here. These are such a fun way to share some holiday cheer this season. The popcorn is coated in a sweet, marshmallow mixture, then formed into balls and decorated with holiday sprinkles and M&Ms.

I used the sea salt flavoured Purplesful Popcorn in this recipe, but popped popcorn in a bag would work too. I’ve been using this purple kernel popcorn lately because of its health benefits - and it’s so good!

If you are looking for a simple, edible gift to give, or a fun way to bake with kids you’ve got to try these! These are a perfect gluten-free holiday snack!

This is the best sweet and salty holiday snack!

Holiday Popcorn Balls

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag of sea salt flavoured Purplesful Popcorn

  • ¼ c light corn syrup

  • ¼ c butter

  • 2 tsp cold water

  • 2 ½ cups powdered sugar

  • 1 c mini-marshmallows

  • M&Ms and sprinkles, if desired

Directions:

  1. Place the popcorn in a large mixing bowl.

  2. In a small pot over medium heat, combine corn syrup, butter, water, sugar, and marshmallows. Stir until completely melted and let it come to a boil.

  3. Pour the mixture over the popcorn and coat each piece. Add in the candies and stir.

  4. Grease your hands and shape the popcorn mixture into balls.

  5. Wrap or store in an airtight container at room temperature BUT i suggest eating them right away.

Note: The popcorn balls will get hard if exposed too long to the air so be sure to wrap tightly or store in an airtight container until you serve them.
