Honey Garlic and Soy Chicken Drumsticks πŸ—

Honey Garlic Soy Chicken Drumsticks

This is an easy, weeknight chicken recipe that you need to add to your rotation. Why? Because the simple marinade turns inexpensive chicken drumsticks into a quick and delicious dinner your whole family will love!

The marinade uses pantry staples, which proves you don’t need fancy ingredients to bring big flavour to your dinner! Nor do you need to spend a ton on your chicken - chicken drumsticks are affordable and juicy, making this a scrumptious dinner that the whole family loves.

I think you’ll love how the sweet honey in the marinade caramelizes and melds with the savory umami-rich soy sauce, producing the best tasting, juicy and tender chicken drumsticks!

I served this with rice, steamed broccoli and I got thumbs up from all my kids.

Honey Garlic Soy Drumsticks

Ingredients:

  • 6 garlic cloves, pressed or grated

  • 1 (1-inch) piece fresh ginger, grated

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

  • 4 pounds chicken drumsticks (about 12-14 drumsticks)

  • scallions and parsley or cilantro for serving

Directions:

  1. In a large zip lock bag, combine the garlic, ginger, oil, soy sauce, honey and ground black pepper. Massage the bottom of the bag to make sure the honey blends well with the rest of the ingredients.

  2. Place the chicken drumsticks into the zip lock bag, close and shake the bag to make sure all the chicken pieces get coated with the marinade. I like to massage the chicken a bit just to make sure the marinade penetrates every piece of chicken. Marinate for 30 minutes or overnight.

  3. Preheat the oven to 375 F.

  4. Place the chicken in a single layer on a baking pan or rimmed baking sheet (the marinade leftover in the bag can also be placed on the baking pan).

  5. Bake uncovered for 40 to 45 minutes or until cooked through.

    Air Fryer Directions:

  6. Begin by preparing the marinade and marinating the chicken for at least 30 minutes.

  7. Preheat the AirFryer to 200F.

  8. Place the chicken in the basket of the airfryer, in a single layer, leaving room between each drumstick. I line my baskets with these liners to make cleanup easier.

  9. Airfry for 20 mins, turning once 1/2 way through cooking.
