Happiest Father’s Day!

Hello and happy Sunday to you!

Wishing all the amazing dads out there a happy day of doing all the things they love and being recognized for how awesome they are! A special shout out to Fraser - the best dad and co-parent you can dream of, and of course to my dad, Bob, who is travelling so I can’t be with him but am thinking of him too.

If you are planning a Father’s Day soirée, grab one of the menus from my Simple yet Special Menu series for some summer grilling and eating inspiration!

Last night, Fras and I attended the most spectacular fundraiser hosted by @TheNewFarm to spread awareness of regenerative farming practices. Incredible restaurants from all over Ontario participated, creating the most divine dishes. The evening wrapped up with an amazing concert in a charming old barn.

Our kids finished school this week, and it felt like a marathon! My son is moving schools next year, making it his last day with his friends and wonderful teacher. I was quite emotional! They celebrated the end of school with a cherished tradition called Kite Day. The park next to the school was filled with children flying the kites they made themselves. It was such a special moment!

My days were filled with getting the house ready for our Airbnb renters (so much cleaning!) and my evenings were filled with summer send-off gatherings. I haven’t forgotten my promise to write up a how-to and FAQ post about Airbnb. Soon! I promise! The rest of the week was social and busy and lovely . And now that we’ve made it to the cabin, I can’t wait to unpack, and take a big exhale as we move into the summer. I didn’t get a chance to cook much this week, but fear not! So much more summer meal inspo is coming!

And that’s it from me! What was your week like?

I hope as you read this, you are celebrating your dad or the dads in your life. Have the best Sunday. xoChristie ❤️

What caught my eye this week

LISTENING The Glossy Podcast interviewed Jenny Bird about her brand and I loved learning about this Canadian entrepreneur. I also loved this conversation on the Skinny Confidential Podcast. I am no fashionista, but I do love getting great tips on dressing.

BOUGHT this WEEK I bought these new jeans. I thought they would be like sweatpants but they aren’t. They are amazing though. I’ve gotten so many compliments. They are super easy to wear.

DRINKING This summer in a glass smoothie called the Sunscreen Smoothie. If coconut isn’t your thing, then you might want to pass on this, but I think this sounds amazing.

Also, I just discovered this website for non-alcoholic drinks. Have you ordered from here before? If so, I’d love to know how it went. I’ve heard great things about the Surely Sparkling Rosé.

READING This ‘How to Stay Calm’ Flow chart by @gregisenberg on Instagram. I’m going to print this off and put it on my fridge or in the front of my journal.

EATING STRAWBERRIES! Guys - It’s strawberry picking season and it’s the first thing on my list of activities now that we’ve made it to the country! If you haven’t made this crumble yet, please do. I ate the leftovers for breakfast with Greek yogurt. chef’s kiss!

Another easy way to use strawberries is on top of chia pudding. I prepped some simple chia puddings this week to add in extra fiber and topped them with a little bit of fresh chopped strawberries . It was so delicious and easy! I typically use a 1 tbsp chia seeds to 1/4 cup liquid ratio, so here’s what I did for each chia pudding: 3 tbsp chia seeds, 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk, a pinch of salt, and 2 tsp maple syrup mixed together and refrigerated overnight. An uncomplicated prep idea!

Let’s do yoga!

Don’t forget that I have a library of classes available on my website for you to access anytime this summer. Before I started cooking on the internet, I was/am a yoga teacher!

I will be adding at least 1 class a week to the library through the summer months for my students, and you can join too!

I’d like to kick us off with an instagram live class this week. Would you been keen? If so, can you reply to this email and just let me know if you’d prefer an AM class (7:00-7:45am) or an evening class (6:00-6:45pm)
