Welcome to A Lovenote.

A weekly digest where I say hello and share. You’ll find things you can cook this week + some things you didn’t ask for but might enjoy. I’m so glad you are here!

Hello Dear Friend,

How was your week? Admittedly, the January blues got to me this week. It felt dark, cold and heavy this week. Could it have been any colder? I felt blue and flat. But I attended a parenting seminar with acclaimed child psychologist, Lisa Damour that mental health is not about being happy all the time. Instead, it's about having the right feelings at the right time and being able to manage those feelings.

I gave myself permission to cozy up. To bake yummy things, including a pink grapefruit drizzle loaf (which I will post pronto!) and watch a lot of Severance. Am I impatient for spring? Yes. But can I persevere and know that all will be well.. Also yes.

Today is a new day. The sun is shining. The snow is sparkling. Let’s make it a great week.

So let’s take a little break from it all and dive into this week’s Lovenote.

The ‘Pause Effect Masterclass

Thursday January 30 @ 12pm EST

Perimenopause is personal for each of us, yet it's something we all experience in our own way—full of unique challenges and moments of discovery. It can feel like you are losing yourself - trust us, you are not. You are evolving. ✨

Join us for "The ‘Pause Effect" Masterclass on Thursday January 30th – a free, empowering session where we'll dive deep into our menopause routine: why it works and how we thrive.

We'll explore the changes you're experiencing (yes, even those "Is it just me?" moments!). From hormone fluctuations to practical lifestyle adjustments, you'll walk away with a clear roadmap for thriving during this season of life. Plus, I'll share the exact tools and techniques we’ve used with our clients to help them feel energized, balanced, and truly themselves again.

This is your invitation to stop googling symptoms at 3 AM and start understanding your body's wisdom. Save your spot now – because thriving in perimenopause isn't just possible, it's your natural next chapter. And we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Now, let's explore what I've discovered across the web this week...

HABITS Now that we are wrapping up Gentle January, I’m staring to really hone my energy and attention towards my 2025 goals. I really liked this article that outlines how to make and KEEP habits. They also offer a free habit tracker if seeing your progress visually helps you stay consistent.

Need a boost on setting healthy habits? How you start your day can make or break it.

his weekend, I caught up with some friends, and we traded stories about the games we love playing with our kids. Sully and I often play Wordle on my phone when we’re together—whether it’s during car rides or while waiting at appointments. Over the holidays, we were gifted HITSTER, an incredible family game that spans generations—it’s such a blast! We also have Sequence on our shelf, though we haven’t tried it yet. I’ve heard it’s fantastic! I’d love to hear what games you enjoy playing with your family or friends (any Euchre fans out there?). Games are such a fun way to disconnect from our phones and spend quality time together.

HOME. Is there something in the new year air that causes one to want to rearrange the furniture and change everything? I was listening to Martha Beck on Mel Robbins podcast who says that furniture rearranging is a sign that you feel stuck and you’re trying to shift energy inside you. The small, inexpensive changes around the home makes you feel like you are unstuck. Has this ever happened to you? She explains that when we feel stuck, instead of asking yourself ‘What can I do now’, we need to ask ‘What can I make now’ because anxiety cannot live alongside creativity. And vis versa - creativity cannot live alongside anxiety. Fascinating.

LISTENING. Loving this playlist.

Many in my audience are navigating perimenopause or menopause while also raising teenagers—a challenging season for both parents and kids. If that’s you, you know how tough it can be to be a teen these days. This week, I had the privilege of attending an insightful discussion with Lisa Damour, the acclaimed child psychologist, on girls’ mental health and resilience. She’s even more engaging and impactful in person than she is on her podcast! I also loved her interview on the WorkLife podcast—definitely worth a listen.

BEAUTY. If you have experienced hormonal hair loss, I urge you to consider trying K18. It’s a leave-in conditioner for your dry or breaking hair. I’ve been using it on the recommendation of my hairdresser and it lives up to the hype! Make sure you follow the directions on the package.

WATCHING Severance. I kept seeing people posting about the long awaited return of this show…I had never heard of it. It’s a slow start but I’m intrigued and am going to stick with it!

READING. I think it’s time I got into the Fourth Wing series. It’s selling like hot cakes and with Valentine’s Day around the corner, I think I deserve some fantasy smut!

Naomi Watts has release her book Dare I say It.

SHOPPING. Did you know that handwriting fires up different parts of the brain than typing does? This leads to increased connectivity across parietal brain regions, the ones involved in things like sensory and motor processing — but also central regions, the ones involved in memory and learning. That means our brains experience a specific type of activation when we write something down by hand, compared to typing! My perimenopause brain fog is LEGIT. If I don’t write things down, they are gone. I found this weekly planner that does it all. Laying everything out that needs to get done in one condensed place. Hallelujah!

This cashmere t-shirt is less than $50!

FOOD: I had such a nice experience partnering with Inspired Go this week to share the love of their salad delivery service. Having a fridge full of fresh, delicious salads all week was truly such a treat. I cannot recommend them enough. The variety, the freshness and the convenience has been such a saviour this week when I had a jammed packed week. They have kindly given me the code CHRISTIEC for 20% to share with you. I hope you try them. This reel expresses exactly how I feel about these salads. The appreciation is real. (PS: Order before Wednesday so you don’t miss the delivery window)

If you don’t yet have a vertical waffle maker, you don’t know what you’re missing. Also, I haven’t tried this gluten free waffle recipe yet (it was sent to me from one of you) but doesn’t it look incredible?

I really want to make this soup.
