Pickle Marinated Airfryer Chicken Wings
Trust me when I tell you that you haven’t lived until you’ve tried marinating your chicken wings in pickle juice overnight and then air frying them to crispy and golden perfection! This is a simple, crowd-pleasing meal that my family went crazy for! Hot tip: You’ll want to make double the recipe - my gang was very disappointed when we ran out of these pickle marinated air fryer chicken wings!
How to make Pickle Marinated Air Fryer Chicken Wings
You’ll start by brining (it’s just marinating….I don’t know why I said brining? I think brining refers to marinating chicken…but not entirely sure) your chicken wings in 1 cup of pickle juice overnight. I used a garlic flavoured pickle flavour.
When it’s time to cook the wings, drain them from the juice (discard it) and dry your wings very well, using paper towels. This will help the wings get super crispy in the air fryer.
Heat your air fryer to 400F and set the timer for 30 minutes. Season your dry chicken wings with your favourite dry rub - I used a cajun seasoning that I think has been in my cabin for about 10 years and it was delicious! But any dry rub will do!
Make sure to drizzle your chicken wings with a little olive oil or cooking spray to help them get very crispy.
Then let the airfryer do the work, just shaking the basket once 1/2 way through cooking.
Can I bake these Pickle Marinated Chicken Wings instead of Air Frying them?
Yes! Just preheat the oven to 425F. To get that crispy finish, turn your chicken wings every 15 minutes through cooking.
What Airfryer should I buy?
I have now bought 3 (THREE!) different air fryers. I love them all.
The first airfryer I bought was the Gourmia Double Basket Airfryer. I bought it at Costco and it’s no longer available. I’ve had it for 2 years now and it’s working well. The racks in the basket are chipping slightly, but the unit still works perfectly. It can cook different things in each basket at the same time at different temperatures.
I recently bought the Ninja Single basket Airfryer and I love how compact it is. The basket is still roomy enough to make food for my family of 5. I like that the basket can go into the dishwasher for easy clean up.
