The World’s Best Flank Steak Marinade

This is the ONLY Flank Steak marinade you will ever need. The ingredients are simple and most likely in your pantry already. This easy Flank Steak Marinade is great on different types of meat creating a juicy, tender and flavourful steak.

This incredible meat marinade is something you will want to pass along to your family. It's so delicious and versatile.

This flank steak recipe has been in my family for eons - we actually have termed it ‘paint’ which is so super weird - I think my mom was worried that we would spill it on ourselves when we were small and she would warn us that it ‘stains like paint’. The name stuck!

I dream about the flavour this marinade gives to any and all meats. I usually marinade my flank steak overnight. I find the longer the better.

Tender, juicy and perfect steak every single time

This recipe makes quite a lot of marinade. You have a couple of options of what you can do with it. You can save 1/2 for later in a tight fitting lid in the fridge. OR, you a use 1/2 as a gravy to pour over your meat when you serve it. This sauce is also delicious over rice!

The World’s Best Flank Steak Marinade

Ingredients:

  • 1 2-2.5 lb flank steak

For the marinade:

  • 1 1/2 cup neutral oil like avocado oil or vegetable oil

  • 3/4 cup soy sauce

  • 1/4 cup Worcheshire sauce

  • 2 tbsp dry mustard

  • 1 tbsp pepper

  • 1/2 cup red wine vinegar

  • parsley

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/3 cup lemon juice

Directions:

  1. Mix all the ingredients except the steak into a large zip top gallon sized bag.

  2. Add the steak and marinade the steak for 2 hours or up to overnight.

  3. Preheat you grill (or use your air fryer!) to high heat.

  4. Grill your flank steak for 4 minutes each side for medium rare (my fave!). Remove from the grill, cover with tin foil and let it sit for 10 minutes before you slice it. The flavourful juices won’t leak out if you let it rest for a while. Always cut meat against the grain - see the above photo and notice how the lines all run in one direction? You’ll want to cut across that direction.

  5. Optional: in a small pot on the stovetop, warm the reserved marinade and serve alongside the steak.
