Welcome to A Lovenote.
A weekly digest where I say hello and share. You’ll find things you can cook this week + some things you didn’t ask for but might enjoy. I’m so glad you are here!
Happy Sunday,
Sickness hit me again this week - 2nd time this January. And here I was just smugly thinking that this January wasn’t all that bad….even with the world blowing up in every direction around us….but then I went down - hard.
I will spare you the details, but it involved tons of disinfectant, washing my hands a million times of day, and very little sleep. I had one day where I felt like I was hit by a truck—I felt achy and exhausted with a heavy headache and a cough that rattled me. On Friday, I picked my kids up from their week away with school, both with the same bug. So we get to continue the saga!
I shared in my Instagram story this week that being sick is a reminder of how we often feel when our hormones are all over the place. We can somehow still get through the day, but we aren’t optimal. When sickness makes its way in, our job is to support our bodies with as much care as possible. Same thing with menopause. When your body is depleted, it needs nourishment. From not just food, but with rest and compassion. It doesn’t serve us to get frustrated. Being unwell totally sucks, but when we put our energy towards nurturing ourselves—instead of towards resistance or anger—we open the door to healing.
I’m not sure many of us know how to nurture ourselves. It’s not something we’re usually taught. It wasn’t until I discovered yoga in my 30s did I start to even consider listening to my body. Our culture values productivity over health and rest. Nurturing ourselves requires us to build a relationship with our body, tending to it with care and trust, even when it feels like it’s betraying us.
For those of you who are also sick this week, my invitation for you is to nurture yourself with compassion—tend to your body gently and nourish yourself with intention. I think we could all use a bit more—by which I mean a hell of a lot more—self-nurturing, and we don’t need to get sick to do so.
Oh! This weekend was a wild one….hence why our Lovenote is arriving today, instead of yesterday. Tiggy had back-to-back ski races, finishing 1st and 2nd. 🥇🥈 And Sadie’s volleyball team swept up on Sunday, bringing home GOLD! 🥇 It was exciting and my voice is raw from the cheering!
How about you? Everyone holding on out there? Can February be a little calmer, please? Fingers crossed.

Exploring what I've discovered across the web this week...
HABITS. I’m sort of obsessed with the idea of these habit punch cards! Anyone want to come over for wine and some creativity?
HOME. If you are hosting a Superbore Bowl Party this weekend, do I have a menu for you! When the game is on, obvi we ditch the main event….the apps ARE the main event! Here is what I would suggest: The Very Best Hot Onion Dip, Pickle Marinated Air Fryer Chicken Wings, Chicken Caesar Salad Dip, and my most requested Buffalo Chicken Dip. Put out some crudités and crack open a cold beverage. Let the good times roll!
BEAUTY. France’s beloved retinol A313 is now available to buy online. I’ve been using this for the past six months religiously and my skin has been all the better for it!
After watching my hair thin and break I finally tried K18 and it’s AMAZING. I highly recommend!
READING. The stigma around menopause care.
RECAP. Last Wednesday’s ‘Pause Effect Masterclass with @lindsay.moves and I was fantastic. We went through all the small details that we’ve added into our lives since our hormones have gone a little haywire to reestablish rhythm and balance. We shared diet and lifestyle hacks, as well and a deep dive into how to give yourself more compassion. We had 65 people signed up for the class. If you missed it and would like to be notified for the next one, fill out the form for details about future events.
FOOD: King Arthur Baking has announced that this focaccia is the recipe of the year and I’m all for it. Tell me: are you into baking your own bread? Are you curious about it? It’s something I find so meditative and relaxing.

These easy protein peanut butter and jam cups are the perfect midday treat. Rich and creamy peanut butter center, with a dollop of sweet jam hidden inside, they taste so good you won't even be able to tell these are packed with protein!
