Healthier Chick-fil-A Nuggets and Sunshine Sauce

a healthier version of Chick-fil-A's chicken nuggets and a homemade version of their special dipping sauce

Check-fil -A restaurants are hard to find around me, but that’s no big deal anymore, because this healthier version of the Chick-Fil-A nuggets, complete with this special homemade Sunshine Dipping Sauce is SO GOOD!

These chicken nuggets are airfried to perfection in 10 minutes and were juicy on the inside, crunchy on the outside. If you don’t have an air fryer, no worries! I’ve included oven instructions in the directions below. But it might be time to invest in an airfryer! You’re going to love these SO much!

I might have to declare that these are the best nuggets of all time. There. I said it. Prove me wrong!

Healthier Chick-fil-A Nuggets and Sunshine Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 boneless skinless chicken breasts (approx 1.5 lbs), cubed

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1 cup pickle juice

  • 2 cups corn flakes cereal

  • 1-2 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • salt and pepper

For the Sunshine Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayo

  • 2 tbsp honey

  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard

  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard

  • 2 tsp BBQ sauce

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp paprika

  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1/4 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. Cube and marinate the chicken pieces in the milk and pickle juice for at least 1 hour in the fridge (overnight is even better!)

  2. In a blender, wiz together the remaining ingredients and place into a shallow dish.

  3. Coat the chicken pieces in the cornflake mixture.

  4. AIRFRY INSTRUCTIONS: Preheat the airfryer to 400F. When hot, spray the interior tray with cooking spray and airfare the chicken pieces for 8-10 minutes. Flip 1/2 way (your machine should prompt you.)

  5. OVEN INSTRUCTIONS: Preheat the oven to 415F. On a lined baking sheet, bake the nuggets for 15-20 mins, flipping 1/2 way.

  6. While the chicken cooks, stir together the sunshine sauce ingredients in a bowl. The flavours will deepen and meld together as the sauce sits. This will last a week in the fridge, covered, but it likely won’t make it to the fridge!

  7. Serve with the Sunshine Sauce.

    Enjoy!!

Homemade and even better than the original chick-fil-A dipping sauce made with pantry staples
