Perfect Air Fryer Steak with Sweet Potato Fries

Air fryer steak is perfectly cooked every single time with a lovely crust on the outside and perfectly cooked on the inside.

If you haven’t yet tried cooking your steak in the air fryer yet, you are in for such a treat! The airfryer makes easy work of searing the outside of the steak but keeping the inside juicy and tender. This meal comes together in 20 minutes, making it the perfect thing to make when you are short on time or don’t want to spend all night in the kitchen.

This recipe is part of my ‘What to cook when you seriously don’t feel like cooking’ series over on Instagram. I served this steak with delicious homemade sweet potato fries and a simple aioli sauce for dipping. But please do not feel like you need to do either of these things! The steak and fries are delicious on their own.

You seriously, seriously don’t want to cook?

Buy a bag of frozen fries and pop them into the air fryer or the oven. One less step and equally delicious!

Perfect Air Fryer Steak with Sweet Potato Fries

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 steaks, 1-1.5” thick (rib eye or the like)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp seasoning of choice (cajun, Italian, or just S&P)

  • salt and pepper

Garlic Herb Butter (optional, but delicious)

  • 1/4 cup butter, softened

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • 1 tsp fresh parsley, finely chopped

  • 1 tsp fresh thyme, finely chopped

Sweet Potato Fries:

  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/2” sticks

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/4 tsp paprika

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Aioli dip (optional, but don’t skip it):

  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise

  • 1 tsp soy sauce

Directions:

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400F. Prepare your steak by rubbing both sides with olive oil and then season with the seasoning mix, salt and pepper.

  2. While you wait for the air fryer to preheat, peel and chop your sweet potatoes into 1/2” sticks and place them into a large bowl. Add the olive oil, garlic powder, paprika and salt and pepper. Toss well to combine.

  3. Add the steak to the air fryer basket and set the timer for 10 minutes. If your steaks are thick, they might need 1 more minute per side. Be sure to flip 1/2 way through the cooking. The air fryer should prompt you to do this automatically.

  4. If your air fryer has 2 baskets, add the sweet potatoes to the 2nd basket. Set the timer for 12 minutes. (you may need to cook these in batches). You can also bake these in the oven on a baking sheet at 400F for 15-20 minutes.

  5. When the steak is finished cooking, remove from the basket and let the steak rest for 10 minutes covered in foil.

  6. Make the aioli: by mixing together the mayo and the soy sauce. Set aside.

  7. Make the garlic butter: Combine the softened butter, chopped fresh herbs and the minced garlic together.

Slice the steak against the grain and serve with the garlic butter. Dip the fries into the aioli!

    Enjoy!!
